SPANK ME PRETTY!

When it comes to Easter, the ladies of Britain have it easy. The obligatory egg hunt and application of novelty bunny ears is about as strenuous as it gets over the four-day chocolate-and-Sunday-roast-fuelled weekend.

So we spare a thought for our Czech and Slovakian sisters, who, tradition dictates, take a good spanking from their men-folk OR have buckets of cold water thrown over them on Easter Monday. All in the name of beauty, apparently. Lucky ol’ them.

Legend has it that if a woman is spanked with a whip (or sufficiently doused), this ensures that she will keep her health and beauty for another year. (And, much like the pulling of pigtails in school, can be a way for a potential suitor to register his interest in a not-at-all disconcertingly S&M kind of way. Rihanna should get herself down there, STAT.)

Said flogging is supposed to be only playful however, and not intended to actually hurt (so not so much slap, but tickle?). But still. We can think of more enjoyable ways to stay young & beautiful. Soap & Glory facemask while nibbling on some antioxidant dark chocolate, anyone?
