She battled head winds, torrential rain and a couple of close calls with Holland’s canal system – and on Sunday night, Product Development Natalie finally arrived, tired & victorious, in Brussels after four epic days of cycling for charity.

So far, she’s raised over £13,000 for a children’s hospice, which has made the challenge – and indignity of applying chamois cream – all totally worth it.

Armed with 13 Mars bars, and fuelled on a steady diet of mince & pasta (lasagne, spaghetti & meatballs, classic spag bol – honestly, the options are endless), Nat powered through over 300 miles. (You can probably add on a few more, thanks to Nat’s dad who proved himself to be clueless in charge of a map. Thanks to a few wrong turns on Day 3, the team ended up riding for 14 hours and eventually got to their hotel at 10pm.)

Minor incidents included falling into a bush, swallowing a blowfly whole and getting a nasty nettle rash on a sensitive area during a comfort stop, but Nat loved every minute of it. At least the ones she can remember. (She’s told there was a spell on that infamous Day 3 where she lapsed into a delirious state and laughed maniacally for an hour straight, but someone gave her some sugar and she soon came right).

After such a physical effort, she’s feeling a little stationary and ‘penned in’ back at the office, so we’re thinking of installing a little crank unit under her desk for her to pedal away on so she can power the lights (and the coffee machine, if we gather around her and shout ‘Vamos!’ encouragingly enough).

Join us in saying a huge, “Congrats Nat”!

That’s us all over – not a hair out of place.

HQ was abuzz with even more beauty than normal this week, all in aid of snazzy shots to add to our website (and to celebrate a momentous milestone – more to come on that later).

The ladies (so, err, the vast majority of us) reveled in the opportunity for a good dress-up and a makeover. The most popular looks of the day were stunningly thick eyeliner flicks, soft golden brown shadow and voluminous blow-outs; while the more controversial ones could be best summed up as ‘cheerleader chic’ and what we’ll politely refer to as ‘hostess couture’. (Let’s just say the initially safety-pinned on bunny tails were a deal breaker and prompted a quick rethink by the stylist/art director.)

The chaps, on the other hand, overcame their initial reluctance (98% of which we estimate was just for show), and became downright swagger-ish when the makeup artist said that their rugged charms were near-perfect as they were, and all they needed was a spritz of hairspray and the odd pre-shot hairclip or two.

(Upon which, Graeme – pictured above – launched into a chorus of “Born This Way” and Warren – below – generously handed out free tickets to the gun show.)

Keep an eye out for the final shots – coming to a soapandglory.com near you!

(That’s the moral of this blog post.)

For at last – patient, yet vocal fans – we have heard your cries and made WASH YOUR HANDS OF IT™ available to grace sinks near you!

That’s right. There’s no more waiting until Christmas for it to come out in its limited edition gift set – you can have beautifully clean (and not at all dry) hands ALL. YEAR. ROUND.

If you’re not yet familiar with its charms, WASH YOUR HANDS OF IT is chock-full of skin conditioners, antioxidant pomegranate juice and barrier protecting provitamin B5, and has the self-same HAND FOOD™-friendly signature rose & bergamot scent!

(It’s so great, you’ll be looking for any excuse to get your hands dirty.)

Our basin domination starts now!

…because she has a beautiful bathroom.

Considering it’s basically Marcia’s office (so quite literally the Executive Bathroom), and the place where all Soap & Glory products get their final seal of approval, it’s fitting that it’s on the luxe end of the scale.

(I for one gaze dreamily at my ever-so-slightly black-speckled grouting, while enjoying blissfully sporadic spurts from my limescale-clogged shower head; transported to nirvana by Rich & Foamous™ – but horses for courses.)

Anyhoo, c/o Marie Claire USA, here’s a rare peek into the inner sanctum of Soap & Glory supremo, Marcia Kilgore, so you can see how the other half soak!

In the beginning, there was one SIT TIGHT™, the first of its kind, a revolutionary sit-activated lower body firming gel (a god-send to flab-addled desk-jockeys everywhere).
The press loved it.
Women lauded it.
Thighs around the world braced themselves in anticipation.
It was a hit.
Then one day, it heard rumour of a BIGGER, BADDER breed of flab. Quick-thinking, undaunted, it whistled for BACK-UP. Soap & Glory heard its call, and sent a whole new grade of HERO.

HERE’S WHAT WE ADDED:

SLIMERGY™-3 – our brand-new, powerful mix of drainage-stimulating CAFFEINE and XYMENYNIC ACID: a detoxifying antioxidant with the power to improve elasticity, increase dermal strength and reduce the appearance of orange peel skin.

LYMPH STIMULATORS with RED PEPPER & GINGER EXTRACTS to IMPROVE MICROCIRCULATION (boost blood flow) in an extra-hot, low irritation, slow release system.

AND Our new CIRCU-360™ MASSAGE APPLICATOR – an ergonomically engineered tri-ball applicator to STIMULATE CIRCULATION and promote BODY CONTOURING.

THEN WE DID THE MATH (which was convincing)*:

95% said skin felt smoother

92% said skin looked tighter/tautened

89% said their skin’s elasticity had improved

83% said their cellulite appeared less noticeable

(*after 4 weeks’s use in a trial by 51 independent testers.)

AND WOMEN EVERYWHERE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
(free to live a life where they were no longer afraid of their own legs.)

When it comes to Easter, the ladies of Britain have it easy. The obligatory egg hunt and application of novelty bunny ears is about as strenuous as it gets over the four-day chocolate-and-Sunday-roast-fuelled weekend.

So we spare a thought for our Czech and Slovakian sisters, who, tradition dictates, take a good spanking from their men-folk OR have buckets of cold water thrown over them on Easter Monday. All in the name of beauty, apparently. Lucky ol’ them.

Legend has it that if a woman is spanked with a whip (or sufficiently doused), this ensures that she will keep her health and beauty for another year. (And, much like the pulling of pigtails in school, can be a way for a potential suitor to register his interest in a not-at-all disconcertingly S&M kind of way. Rihanna should get herself down there, STAT.)

Said flogging is supposed to be only playful however, and not intended to actually hurt (so not so much slap, but tickle?). But still. We can think of more enjoyable ways to stay young & beautiful. Soap & Glory facemask while nibbling on some antioxidant dark chocolate, anyone?

HAPPY EASTER!

STOP PRESS! Recruits needed urgently to start taking shorter showers!

In a week where parts of the UK have officially been declared IN DROUGHT (and that’s before the long, hot summer sets in), it’s time for the whole world to start getting serious about saving water. So have we got the challenge for you…

CAN YOU DO IT IN 2 MINUTES? (Your hair? Eating an entire chocolate cake? Maxing out your credit card?) NO! We’re talking about TAKING A SHORTER SHOWER.

We’ve tried, timed & tested it – and reckon you can shampoo, condition, wash, scrub (and even shave) using just 2 MINUTES of running water.

Read our detailed how-to here!

The average shower (according to Waterwise) uses a MASSIVE 9 litres of water PER MINUTE. So – taking 10 minutes as a standard shower time – you could SAVE OVER 70 LITRES each and every day if you take up the 2-Minute Rinse™.

But it’s not all just ethical satisfaction and pats-on-the-back. YOU CAN WIN STUFF, TOO! (Hey – consider it your chance at a well-earned reward.)

It’s easy!
1. Attempt your 2-Minute Rinse™.
2. Write about it on our Facebook wall.
3. Then email us at 2minuterinse@soapandglory.com

We pick winners EVERY WEEK! So keep up your efforts, and you’ll not only win, but you’ll be helping to avert a very real environmental catastrophe.

(See? We always knew that one day, beauty would save the world.)

Ann – our new CEO – certainly was. Although we found out pretty much everything we needed to know about her when she made red velvet cupcakes for us on Valentine’s Day, there were still some questions we wanted to grill her on. And happily, she obliged!

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?

Colin Firth and his Bafta!

What’s your proudest possession?

I don’t own them – but I’d have to say my daughters.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever had?

Try again!

And the best advice you’ve ever given?

Try harder!

What’s your best attribute?

Physical – my eyes.

Characteristic – my sense of humour.

What’s your worst?

Physical – my legs.

Characteristic – my temper!

If you appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, your skill would be…

I would prefer to be on Top Chef, as I love to cook.

What’s your favourite Soap & Glory product – and why?

I love Make Yourself Youthful Rejuvenating Serum – because it works!

When did you first know you wanted to work in beauty?

When I realised it was about making people feel good.

What’s your best beauty tip?

Smile! And apply your SPF moisturiser.

If I wasn’t a beauty CEO I’d be…

A cookery or travel writer!
