NOT JUST ANOTHER PRESS LAUNCH

Ok, so picture this. You’re Soap & Glory. You’ve spent MONTHS perfecting three AMAZING new products. You’ve got all the ingredients, the packaging, the killer puns – now you just need the press to come along and get hysterical (objectively, of course) about how FABULOUS your new creations really are. So what do you do?

GET CREATIVE. When every beauty company on the planet is vying for journalists’ time and column inches, a little extra ‘incentive’ goes a long way. And by incentive, we mean bribe. Our chosen bait? Pre-work blow-dries at Liberty’s in London (just a stone’s throw from Hearst, Conde Nast and Bauer Media, where most of the top beauty journalists are based).

After all – who doesn’t want to start the day with glossy, gorgeous, LITERALLY just-walked-out-of-the-salon hair? EXACTLY.

The event was a huge success. The press flocked in – tired, frizzy and dishevelled, and then swept out an hour later in a mass of curls, flicks, waves and smiles. We handed them a goody bag filled with our newest products – ONE HECK OF A BLOT™ (coming soon!), ENDLESS GLOVE™, and SEXY MOTHER PUCKER™ XL in two new shades: Very Berry & Pink Out Loud, and now we wait (with bated breath) to read their reviews… Watch this space!

IF OUR LIPSTICK COULD TALK…

It would call up its local radio station and request ‘You’re The Best’ from The Karate Kid, because it’s only gone and nabbed top spot as The Daily Mail’s Best Lipstick of 2011!

No one’s overcome with more humble blushes than our very own Ferninator, who had the biggest hand in creating our Supercolour Fabulipsticks (not that we’re saying she has big hands, mind. They’re actually very dainty. But we digress.).

We popped down to NPD, brewed up a coffee and sat down with her for a good ol’ girly gab about what makes Supercolour Fabulipstick stand out from the crowd. (We suspect witchcraft, but she’ll neither confirm nor deny.)

Q: So Ferninator…can we call you Fern for short?
Ferninator: I’d prefer you didn’t.

Q: OK, sure. How about ‘inator’?
Ferninator: Next question.

Q: What were you going for when you dreamt up Supercolour Fabulipstick?
Ferninator: We wanted to create THE ULTIMATE LIPSTICK that gave intense colour in one swipe, had serious staying power and left lips smooth, moisturised and plumped.

Q: Ultimate lipstick huh? I guess if you’re aiming, why not aim for the top?
Ferninator: Exactly.

Q: So if it got into a fight with another lipstick, you’re saying you’d put your money on it to win?
Ferninator: Yes, if it came down to that, but Supercolour Fabulipstick’s more of a lover than a fighter.

Q: So what makes it stand out from other lipsticks?
Ferninator: Besides the colour-rich formula, it’s intensely moisturising and – most impressive of all – boosts collagen to help give you a smooth, dewy & plump colour-filled pout. Q: That sounds heavenly.
Ferninator: The smell is one of my favourite things about it. It’s subtle but really lovely.

Q: How did you decide on the colours? And any tip-offs about new colours that might be coming next?
Ferninator: We tried to cover all the basics to start with by creating three ultra-wearable shades, but there are more exciting trend colours to come, including the perfect red (which we swear suits EVERYONE) and a fresh pink!

Q: And what’s the best compliment you’ve gotten while wearing it?
Ferninator: I get compliments on the colour all the time (especially when I’m wearing Perfect Day)!
